Shop Projects

It’s Done!

JJ F5 Cobra Posted on Mon, June 03, 2013 11:39:14

Jim’s Cobra is ready for the road. I drove it to the alignment shop last week and I’ll keep it for at least a few days to work out new car bugs but, other that that, It’s done.

It may not be a “REAL” Cobra but with a 427 and a 4 speed it IS a real hot rod. This thing must be driven with the utmost respect. With this much power in such a light package, you can get in serious trouble very quickly if you don’t.

New Parts

FR 78 Corvette Posted on Mon, June 03, 2013 11:16:18

Work has been a little slow on the Corvette due to other projects in the shop. Now that a few of them are nearing completion we will be able to devote more time to this one.

We got the transmission completely rebuilt and opted to replace the engine rather than source a bunch of new parts and rebuild the L82 350 that was already poorly rebuilt at least once.

We ordered a new 290 HP 350 crate engine that comes from Chevrolet. It has comparable power and specifications to the original engine when new and should provide trouble free service for years to come. At the same time we sourced new accessories for the engine including the starter, alternator, HEI distributor, spark plugs & plug wires, a Power steering pump, water pump, harmonic balancer, motor & transmission mounts, valve cover & intake gaskets, and an Optima battery.
